Get Wisdom | Decision-Making (Proverbs 3:5-6)

As believers, we are expected, not to be ‘double-minded’ but to seek the Lord’s will and His glory in everything that we do.

Proverbs 3:5-6 // 1 Corinthians 10:31 // Romans 14:23

God has given us a great deal of guidance for wise decision making via:

1) His explicit commands

Proverbs 2:1-11 // Psalm 119:105 // Psalm 19:7-11

2) The historical narrative of scripture

Romans 15:4 // Joshua 9:14 // 2 Samuel 11:1

3) Other people with specialized knowledge and experiential insight

Proverbs 11:14, 13:20, 24:6

4) The model of prayerful patience

Proverbs 19:2, 20:25 // Psalm 25:4-5, 130:5-6 // Exodus 14:14 // John 14:26

“If you survey Proverbs for methods of discerning God’s will, you will conclude that it does not talk about HOW God guides as much as WHOM God guides… Through a long path and a lot of work, we develop integrity and righteousness and it is through these character traits that God guides us. The more we know God, ourselves, the human heart, the order of creation, the times and seasons, the more we will have the wisdom to make good decisions.” — Tim Keller

Proverbs 11:3, 12:5, 14:22
