Therefore: A Series on the Basic Measures of Gospel-Centered Disciples | Engage in Ongoing Opportunities for Spiritual Growth

Matthew 13:3-23

God has ordained in the world, as well as in His Kingdom, that living things grow and reproduce as a sign of health.

“A healthy church has a pervasive concern with church growth – not simply growing numbers but growing members. A church full of growing Christians is the kind of church growth I want as a pastor. Some today seem to think that one can be a “baby Christian” for a whole lifetime. Growth is seen to be an optional extra for particularly zealous disciples. But be very careful about taking that line of thought. Growth is a sign of life. Growing trees are living trees, and growing animals are living animals. When something stops growing, it dies.” — Mark Dever

2 Peter 1:2-8

When it comes to spiritual growth, the two main factors that must be present are desire and discipline, that is, you WANT to grow and you’re willing to WORK at it.

Philippians 2:12-13

Because the Lord expects our growth in grace, He hasn’t left it a mystery but clearly outlined the process and outcomes of maturity for the sake of our assessment!

Faith —> Virtue —> Knowledge —> Self-Control —> Steadfastness —> Godliness —> Brotherly Affection —> Love
